Sustainable Marine Ecosystems: Ecologically Sustainable Development for the Marine State’s Fisheries

Management of fisheries must be ecosystem-based because, whilst the maintenance of the target stocks has long been the primary management goal for fisheries agencies, there is now a recognition that there is a need to ensure that non-target stocks and the broader ecosystem are also not affected to unacceptable levels.

Node 4 will develop methods and/or generate the information needed to assist with the management of the marine ecosystems of Western Australia to meet the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development.
