WAMSI Research Node 2

Climate Processes, Predictability and Impacts in a warming Indian Ocean

The region of interest is the Indian Ocean and the sub-Antarctic Southern Ocean, upwind from Western Australia in the westerly air-streams. The research will also identify links between large scale anomalies in oceanic structure and impacts on the marine environment off Western Australia.

Node 2 will address oceanographic research relevant to the climate of Western Australia. It will focus on identifying ocean-processes that feed back to the atmosphere and give persistence and predictability to climate anomalies.
