About the program

SPICE is a secondary science teacher enrichment program formed through a partnership between the WA Department of Education and Training and the University of Western Australia.

SPICE has three interconnected components:

• development and distribution of high-quality teaching and learning resources
• professional development for teachers
• interaction between teachers and research scientists

• increase their enthusiasm for science and for their roles in teaching science to their students
• increase their knowledge and understanding of the latest science in their specialist area and of the associated investigative skills
• select and utilise a range of modern learning technologies in their classrooms
• strengthen their knowledge and confidence to implement teaching, learning and assessment approaches that will enhance their students’ learning
