Second week (12th-16th January)

An informal week of short courses, workshops and problem sessions, especially beneficial to early career researchers and postgraduate students. The aim is to take advantage of the wide expertise of the delegates to promote interaction between the three areas of Group Theory, Combinatorics and Computation. There will be plenty of time for research collaboration and impromptu talks.

Short courses

There will be the following short courses:

• Rosemary Bailey, Association schemes.
  

• Peter Neumann, Synchronization of automata, semigroups and groups.

• Eamonn O'Brien, Algorithms to investigate finitely-presented groups.

• Akos Seress, Permutation group algorithms.

Problem session

Peter Cameron has agreed to convene a problem session. It will cover all areas of group theory, computation and combinatorics. Please bring along any (mathematical) problems that you have and would like to attract people to work on. This is an excellent opportunity to expose them to researchers with expertise in a wide variety of areas.
